Chalk the Walk for Mental Health Week

Education Week

Students participated in many activities, one of which was the Great Numeracy Hunt. Students solved various problems in the areas of Sudoku, Riddles, Brain Teasers, Spatial Problems and Logic Problems. Any student who entered an answer sheet was then eligible for one of the awesome prizes donated by our School Council.

Students were also treated to Highland Dance lessons from our very own Mrs. Sawchuk.

School-Wide Hot Breakfast

As part of our nutrition program, students were treated to a school-wide, hot breakfast on Wednesday, April 3rd. North Fork arrived at the school at 5:30 am to start the preparations! On the menu was waffle sticks, oven baked pork sausage, mixed berries, an orange slice, and of course, syrup to dip the waffle sticks. It was delicious!

Winter Fun Day

On Thursday, February 28th, students participated in a variety of activities, the majority of which were outside. The morning began with a rehearsal for a lip dub and an assembly followed where outdoor ed students explained the different stations, and where those sports originated. The afternoon started off with a tug of war, between classes and one between the students and staff. Students then went to the different activity stations, which included hockey, snowshoeing, curling and "axe" (ball) throwing. Students in Outdoor Ed were responsible for running the stations, and did a great job. Everyone had a great time!

On February 25th and 26th, Beaumont Lacrosse ran some drills and games with our students. Everyone got a taste of this fabulous summer national sport!

WISEST Choices Conference

Four grade 6 girls from EBMS were able to participate in the WISEST Choices conference at the University of Alberta on February 20th. At the conference, they were able to speak with and observe different scientific fields that could be of interest to them. Some of the presenters talked about enzymes, proteins and catalysts, showing the girls how specific medicines are used to target different parts of our bodies, or different methods for cleaning up oil spills and protecting the environment. The girls ended their day by designing their own version of the Canada Arm.

Random Acts of Kindness Week

During Random Acts of Kindness Week, students performed a random act of kindness by writing kind notes and handing out red fruit cups to each class.

On February 1st, students participated in BGRD's second annual Girls in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) day. So many exciting opportunities for our students!

Reading Buddies

The Grade Six Immersion students visited the Grade 2 Immersion classes to share books they wrote and illustrated.

Mission Impossible

Mrs. Schindel worked hard to provide students with a challenging obstacle course last week. Students were also treated to inspiring music to help them work their way through!

Snow Removal Crew - January 2019

Mr. McNamara and his crew continue to work hard at keeping our basketball courts clear of snow!
*This was NOT taken the day it was posted. This is from earlier in January, during nicer weather. :)

Snow Chunk Delivery - December 14, 2018

Mr. McNamara organized an excellent recess project today. Older students shoveled off our basketball courts and younger students were invited to come "pick up" ready made snow chunks for their forts! Win/win! Good work, guys!
